  • I have a number of WYSE X90C7 Thin Client laptops all have the Manufactured Date of FEB 2011.

I decided to download the latest WES7 dated 7-Mar-2012 and installed onto a USB stick with the latest USB Firmware Tool (V3.0.0)

All goes well and the image is installed, remove the USB stick and the process of setting up Windows 7 begins.

    1. Loads windows and sets up various applications, completes and reboots
    2. Loads windows scripts start to setup/uninstall various drivers then reboots
    3. During the first 2 steps the File Based Write Filter is off and the end of step 2 it clearly states “File based filter will be enabled on the next reboot”
    4. After the reboot the system is logged on as “User” and the write filter is on, if I now change the user to “Administrator” or reboot all I get is “This is not a bootable disk. Please insert a bootable floppy and press any key to try again…

It would appear that as soon as the write filter is enabled the flash is no longer bootable an it won’t load the OS

Am I missing something or have I just turned the device into a “Brick” help appreciated.

I would check the BIOS. Try to reset the CMOS settings to default.

This does not have anything to do with the write filter.
I guess that the boot partition is either wrong or not activated.
Try booting with a Linux boot manager from USB and verify.

No, the image is only touching the boot record when you initiate an Image Pull from the management console.

I have the same problem using Dell_Wyse_USB_Imaging_Tool_v3.1.0. How did you solve it?

    Thank you.
